Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter Movie Review

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter explores the secret life of the America’s greatest president, Abraham Lincoln, and the untold story that shaped their nation. The president discovers blood-thirsty vampires are planning to take over the United States. Lincoln makes it his mission to eliminate them, becoming history’s greatest hunter of the undead.

Admittedly, I started to laugh when I first saw the movie trailer and did not know anything about the book. Over time I started to really get into the idea that Abraham Lincoln could be a Vampire Hunter. The time era in which he lived gave a more plausible setting for story line. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and stars Benjamin Walker, Rufus Sewell and Dominic Cooper.

Benjamin Walker plays our heroic president and based on what I’ve read about Abraham Lincoln he seems to have fit the buck the way literature describes him. Amazingly when you see him in action with his tall size presence, you think, wow this guy can kick some serious ass with his ax! The action is furious with a light bit of gore. That’s to be expected of a vampire film, at the very least.

I found myself rooting for Abraham Lincoln from the get go and wanted to watch him prevail over the vampires, slavery and create unity as a nation! What a odd combination to say together, but the film does not disappoint in rallying you into Abraham’s noble actions.

The film does have some rough edges though, the relationships and loyalties of his friends seem really forced. It’s like saying “hey, do you want to be friends forever?”, and some guys says “sure!” Then you’re supposed to believe, since I asked this guy to be my friend and he’ll totally be cool with helping me kill vampires because he said so. Pretty RAD! Other than that, you’ll have a good time watching Abraham’s ax chop down the vampire baddies.
