WonderCon: Marvel Avengers vs. X-Men

At Marvel’s panel today were Tom Brevoort, Jeph Loeb, and Mark Waid. They gave us a glimpse into what to expect in the exciting, upcoming 12 part series Avengers vs X-Men, which will be shipping twice monthly. According to the panel, if you were on the fence about getting into Marvel, this series will pull you in, even if you don’t know all the back stories.

With Loeb’s Avengers: X-Sanction wrapping up next week with issue #4, it will lead directly into Avengers vs X-Men. The last page of the issue will contain the first scene of AVX #0. In Avengers vs. X-Men #0, the story will be mainly on Scarlet Witch and Hope Summers.

In April, Marvel are also launching Avengers vs. X-Men vs., which will contain as they said 1 percent of story and the rest will be epic battles between heroes. Some of the face offs we’ll see are Juggernaut/Colossus versus the Thing and Iron Man vs Magneto.

You will be glad to know that the new AVX series will contain a lot less tie-ins with other single hero series, unlike Civil War. After listening to complaints from the community about stories going too deep, an editorial decision was made to focus on Avengers vs. X-Men and its sister, Avengers vs. X-Men vs. series. Tie-ins to deepen the story will mostly be limited to those that actually have Avengers or X-Men in the title, but not all. For example, Astonishing X-Men will not tie-in, but Uncanny X-Men will.
